ARTIDIS is based on the atomic force microscope, which can determine the (nano)mechanical properties of native tissue by using a fine, nanometer-scale probe. able to examine tissue biopsies within an hour. By providing such nanomechanical profile of patient biopsy sample, ARTIDIS allows for rapid diagnosis of benign or malignant tumors and consequently optimization of treatment for cancer patients.
